2.0-inch IPS LCD module for embedded projects

This 2.0-inch IPS LCD module delivers a 240×320 RGB picture with 262K colours and an LED backlight. The ST7789V driver communicates over a four-wire SPI link that needs only a handful of GPIO pins. Operating voltage is 3.3 V or 5 V provided the supply and logic levels match. It suits microcontroller projects that want a small colour readout without a parallel bus.

240×320 resolution and colour headroom

The 240 by 320 pixel array covers 30.60 mm by 40.80 mm with a 0.0975 mm pixel pitch, giving sharp text and simple graphics at close range. The 262K colour palette handles UI elements, sensor plots and icons comfortably, but it is not aimed at photographic gradients or video playback. Complex animations will hit the SPI throughput ceiling before the panel runs out of colours.

SPI interface practical limits

The SPI interface keeps wiring to a minimum yet caps sustained frame rates; full-screen updates at high speed are constrained by the serial clock and driver command overhead. The 58 mm by 35 mm board outline fits tight enclosures, but the connector spacing and mounting holes follow the vendor’s own layout rather than a standard pitch. Projects needing faster refresh or a standardised footprint should evaluate parallel or MIPI alternatives.
