Spilltech 8 in x 10 ft Sorbent Boom

This Spilltech sorbent boom measures eight inches by ten feet and comes in a pack of four white units. It is built for garages and workshops that need to contain and absorb oil-based spills. The poly blend filler and polypropylene skin target hydrocarbon fluids while repelling water. Each boom absorbs up to nine gallons for a total package capacity of thirty-eight gallons.

Absorption limits of the poly blend boom

The filler material absorbs oils and other hydrocarbon liquids but does not take up water. A single boom handles nine gallons, so the four-pack covers thirty-eight gallons in total. Once the poly blend is saturated the boom stops absorbing and must be replaced. The round profile and lack of an internal rope mean it lies flat against floors or floats on contained liquid surfaces.

Replaces loose granular absorbents and smaller pads

This boom replaces loose granular absorbents and smaller pads that require more labour to deploy and collect. The jump is worth it when a single spill or recurring leaks exceed the capacity of pads and when fast containment reduces slip hazards. It is not suited for water-based chemical spills or for environments that need a rope-reinforced boom for anchoring in moving water.
