The SICK IQ80-60NUP-KK0 is a rectangular inductive proximity sensor designed for industrial automation and machine monitoring. It detects metal targets at distances up to 60 mm using a non-flush mounting style. The sensor suits electricians and maintenance engineers who need reliable presence detection on conveyors, packaging lines or heavy equipment. Its IP65-rated plastic housing withstands dust, water jets and temperatures from –25 °C to +80 °C.

Upgrade From Mechanical Limit Switches

This sensor replaces mechanical limit switches and older inductive units that lack configurable output logic. The jump is worth it when an application demands both PNP and NPN signalling from a single device, or when wiring must be settled on-site via terminal connections with an M20 gland. It also removes the wear and bounce inherent in moving contacts, extending service intervals on high-cycle machinery.

AC/DC Two-Wire Interface Limits

The sensor operates on a wide 20 V to 250 V AC/DC supply but uses a two-wire topology that imposes a 6.5 V drop and a minimum load current above 5 mA. Continuous current is capped at 350 mA, falling to 100 mA at the top of the temperature range. Off-state leakage reaches 2.5 mA, which can hold small relays energised. The 4 Hz switching frequency rules out high-speed counting or positioning tasks. Short-circuit protection is not built in, so external fusing is required.
