Sick IME12 inductive sensor PNP 4 mm

The Sick IME12-04BPSZC0S is a cylindrical inductive proximity sensor with a 4 mm sensing range and a flush mounting style. It uses a PNP normally-open output on a DC three-wire circuit and connects through an M12 four-pin male connector. The nickel-plated brass housing measures 65 mm in overall length with a 48 mm thread length and meets IP67 enclosure rating.

Limits of the M12 4-pin DC interface

The sensor operates from 10 V DC to 30 V DC with a maximum ripple of 10 % and a voltage drop of 2 V. Continuous load current is limited to 200 mA and the switching frequency reaches 2,000 Hz. A time delay before availability of 100 ms applies after power-up and the unit includes short-circuit, reverse-polarity and power-up pulse protection. Operating temperature spans –25 °C to +75 °C.

The 4 mm flush sensing range decides fit

The nominal sensing distance is 4 mm while the safe sensing range is 3.24 mm, so the target must stay within this narrower zone for reliable detection. Hysteresis ranges from 5 % to 15 % and reproducibility is 2 %, with a temperature drift of ±10 % of the sensing range. Builders needing a longer range or a non-flush mounting style cannot use this model.
