The Sick IM30-15NUO-ZU0 is a cylindrical inductive proximity sensor designed for non-flush mounting in metalworking and automation environments. Its M30 x 1.5 threaded brass housing fits standard machine brackets and conveys a 15 mm sensing range on ferrous targets. The unit operates on 20 to 250 V AC/DC supply rails, making it compatible with legacy relay logic and modern PLC input cards alike. It is not suited for applications requiring flush mounting or sensing distances beyond the rated 15 mm.

Two-Wire Cable Connection Simplifies Wiring

A 2 m PUR/PVC cable with 0.5 mm² conductors exits the housing, eliminating the need for separate connectors or junction boxes. The two-wire AC/DC output functions as normally closed, so the load receives power until the target enters the 12.15 mm safe sensing zone. Installers must observe the 5 mA minimum load current and 6.5 V AC voltage drop to avoid false triggering. Over-tightening the locknuts beyond 50 Nm damages the nickel-plated threads, which is the most common field failure.

15 mm Sensing Range Defines Application Fit

The sensor detects standard steel targets at 15 mm, with a guaranteed 12.15 mm safe operating distance that accounts for temperature drift and supply variation. Switching frequency reaches 30 Hz, limiting use to relatively slow-moving actuators or presence verification rather than high-speed counting. Continuous load current is rated at 350 mA at 20 V, dropping to 100 mA at the upper voltage end. If the control system demands a longer range or faster response, this model will not meet the requirement.
