This 120 V AC self-regulating heating cable is supplied in a 50 ft length for indoor pipe freeze protection and temperature maintenance. It delivers 6 W per foot at 40 °F and draws 0.05 A per foot at the same reference temperature. The construction uses conductive carbon core with tinned-coated copper braid and two conductors.

Sustained Load Behaviour

The cable self-regulates output along its entire length so power drops as the pipe warms, preventing overheating during continuous operation. Maximum circuit length is 200 ft, allowing multiple 50 ft runs on a single breaker if local code permits. Operating range spans -40 °F to 150 °F, so performance remains stable through seasonal extremes.

Hardwired Installation Practicalities

A NEMA hardwired connection means the installer must provide a junction box and make permanent terminations rather than plugging into a receptacle. The tinned copper braid serves as both ground path and mechanical shield, simplifying compliance with typical electrical codes. Only the cable is included; connection kits, end seals and thermostats are sourced separately.
