Low-Strength Threadlocker for Small Fasteners

Loctite 222MS is a purple anaerobic threadlocker formulated for low-strength locking of threaded assemblies up to 1/4 inch diameter. It suits brass, bronze, copper, iron, manganese, Monel, nickel and steel components where reliable retention is needed but future disassembly with hand tools must remain practical. The liquid formula fills thread gaps and cures in the absence of air to resist vibration loosening.

Anaerobic Cure and Primer Compatibility

The adhesive cures anaerobically once confined between metal threads, developing a 25 in-lb breakaway torque after a 20-minute working time. It meets Mil-S-46163-A Type II Grade M and is compatible with Loctite 7649 primer for faster cure on inactive or plated surfaces. The 8.45 fl oz bottle provides sufficient volume for repeated maintenance tasks without requiring specialised dispensing equipment.

Maintenance-Grade Retention with Limits

Designed for fasteners up to 1/4 inch, it handles adjustment screws, instrumentation fittings and small-diameter bolts where excessive locking strength would damage parts during removal. It is not intended for high-strength structural joints, large-diameter studs or applications requiring permanent locking that resists heat and heavy impact. The oleic acid 5.5EO base ensures consistent performance on the listed metals within the specified torque range.
