Primer for Anaerobic Adhesives

Loctite 209715 Primer 7649 is an aerosol primer formulated to accelerate the cure of anaerobic threadlockers, retaining compounds and pipe sealants. It comes in a 4.5 oz aerosol can and is intended for maintenance and assembly tasks where reliable bonding on inactive metals is required. The product is new and supplied as a maroon coloured sealing compound.

Replaces Slower Room-Temperature Curing

Without this primer, anaerobic adhesives can cure slowly or incompletely on stainless steel, plated surfaces or other inactive metals. Applying the aerosol reduces the fixture time to 30 to 70 seconds, making the jump worthwhile whenever production speed or immediate handling strength is critical. It is not a substitute for adhesive; it only prepares the surface for faster anaerobic cure.

Consistent Cure Under Continuous Assembly

In sustained assembly work the primer maintains its acceleration effect across repeated applications, keeping cure times within the 30 to 70 second window as long as the aerosol is applied evenly. The formulation contains chemicals listed under California Proposition 65 for cancer and reproductive harm, so prolonged exposure requires appropriate ventilation and protective equipment. It is not suited for applications that demand primer-free anaerobic adhesives.
