Upgrade from worn or unmarked tapes

This model replaces older tapes with faded markings, broken locks or missing belt clips that slow down layout work. The positive lock holds the blade firmly at any extension, preventing the frustrating creep common on cheaper spring locks. Fractional graduations remove the need to estimate between lines, cutting errors on trim, drywall and framing cuts. It is not suited for runs longer than 12 ft or for users who require metric-only graduations.

Quick belt-clip deployment

The integrated belt clip slides onto a waistband or tool pouch so the tape stays within reach without a separate holder. To use, pull the blade out, press the lock button to fix the length, and retract by releasing the lock — no tools or adjustment required. The most common issue is debris jamming the spring return; wiping the blade clean before retracting prevents grit from fouling the mechanism. Avoid dropping the case on concrete, as the rubberised cover can crack on hard impact.
