Purpose and fit

The GE TEY160 is a single-pole molded case circuit breaker rated at 60 A for 277/480 V AC systems with a 14 kA interrupting rating at 277 V AC. It bolts onto GE AE lighting panels and uses a fixed thermal-magnetic trip calibrated to a 250 A instantaneous threshold. Buyers who need multi-pole protection or a higher frame rating cannot use this unit.

Mounting and connection impact

The bolt-on panelboard mounting style secures the breaker directly to the panel bus, while the lug terminal accepts standard conductor connections without additional hardware. The 125 A frame size and 1-pole width of 1 in determine the slot space required inside the enclosure. Installers without compatible GE AE panelboards or bolt-on bus arrangements cannot mount this breaker.

Voltage and interrupting limits

The breaker carries a 125 V DC rating alongside its AC rating, but its 14 kA AIR applies only at 277 V AC and does not extend to the full 480 V AC level. The fixed instantaneous trip at 250 A cannot be adjusted for selective coordination schemes. Systems requiring adjustable trips, higher interrupting capacity at 480 V AC, or DC interrupting ratings beyond the stated value fall outside this device's capabilities.
