Purpose & fit

This GE TEY2100 is a bolt-on molded case circuit breaker rated at 100 A for 277/480 V AC systems. It installs directly into compatible GE AE lighting panels and provides two-pole protection for single-phase loads. The fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit operates at a 14 kA interrupting rating, making it suitable for standard commercial and light-industrial distribution. Buyers needing a higher frame rating or a different mounting style will require another product.

Sustained-load behaviour

Under continuous operation the breaker carries its 100 A rating within a 125 A frame and trips thermally on prolonged overloads. The magnetic instantaneous trip is fixed at 200 A, so short-circuit currents above that level open the contacts quickly without nuisance tripping during motor inrush. The 14 kA AIR at 277/480 V AC ensures safe interruption of available fault current in typical panelboard applications. DC circuits up to 250 V are also covered by the same trip mechanism.

Thermals, noise & power

The thermal-magnetic trip generates heat proportional to load current, and the molded case dissipates it without forced cooling. No moving parts operate during normal conduction, so the device runs silently. Lug terminals accept standard conductors and add minimal voltage drop. The compact 5.25 in height, 2 in width and 3.06 in depth allow dense panel layouts while maintaining required clearances.
