6-Inch Barometric Draft Control

The Field Controls 6RC regulates chimney draft on residential and commercial oil, wood or coal heating appliances. It mounts in the flue pipe and automatically maintains the negative pressure required for stable combustion. Installers use it on furnaces and boilers where consistent draft is critical for efficiency and safety.

Installation and Adjustment

The control fits a standard six-inch round flue and is calibrated at the factory for a range of point-zero-two to point-zero-eight inches water column. Because the mechanism is highly sensitive, the manufacturer specifies that instrumentation must be used when setting the unit during installation. Guessing the position without a draft gauge typically results in over-fire or under-fire conditions.

Calibration Range Decides Fit

The adjustable range of point-zero-two to point-zero-eight inches water column is the single specification that determines whether this control matches the appliance manufacturer's required draft setting. If the equipment calls for a setting outside that window, a different control model is required.
