Testing range and storage

The ETCR 3850 is a transient suppression diode tester built for electricians and maintenance engineers who need to verify TVS component performance. It measures reverse breakdown voltage on both unidirectional and bidirectional devices across a 0 to 400V range. A colour touch screen shows thresholds, pass or fail judgement, live voltage and current, and battery status. Up to 1000 test records can be stored per gear and later reviewed on the instrument or uploaded via USB with the supplied PC software.

Users and limits

This tester suits professionals who regularly validate TVS diodes in production, quality control or field service and want on‑board logging with USB export. It does not serve buyers who need to characterise other semiconductor types such as standard rectifiers, zeners or thyristors, nor those who require automated multi‑channel testing or higher voltage capability beyond the 400V upper limit.

Reverse breakdown voltage range

The single specification that determines whether this is the right instrument is the 0 to 400V measurement window for reverse breakdown voltage. If the TVS devices under test fall inside this window, the 3850 can capture and store up to 1000 results per gear for later analysis. If any device exceeds 400V, a different tester with a wider range must be selected.
