Upgrade from standard twist bits

Standard twist bits wear quickly in masonry and cannot clear heavy dust loads, leading to wandering holes and overheating. This bit replaces them when the material is brick, concrete or sandstone and the hole depth exceeds the reach of shorter bits. The carbide tips are larger than the nominal 5/16-inch size, giving clearance for anchor screws, expansion shields and toggle bolts without a separate step. The jump is worth it whenever you need straight, deep holes that accept mechanical fasteners on the first pass.

Deep reach and anchor clearance

The 30-inch length comfortably handles through-wall drilling and deep embedment for heavy-duty anchors in the listed materials. Wide flutes maintain dust removal efficiency until the flutes pack solid in very deep holes, at which point withdrawal to clear debris becomes necessary. Carbide tips resist wear in abrasive sandstone and concrete but will dull if forced into reinforced concrete with heavy rebar. The bit is designed for portable electric drills; it is not suited for SDS-plus or SDS-max rotary hammers.
