Direct-drive blower motor for HVAC systems

The Dayton 3LU92 is a single-phase permanent split capacitor motor rated at 1 hp for continuous-duty HVAC control applications. It operates on 208-230V AC at 60 Hz and draws 5.8 to 6.8 A at full load. The 48YZ frame unit mounts via studs in any orientation and provides a 1/2 in. diameter shaft extending 6 in. for direct-drive connections.

Sustained-load behaviour at rated conditions

With a service factor of 1.0 and Class B insulation, the motor is designed for continuous operation at its 1 hp nameplate rating without overload capacity. Automatic thermal protection interrupts power if internal temperatures exceed safe limits during prolonged running. The four-speed winding allows airflow adjustment while maintaining rated torque across the speed range under normal ambient conditions up to 40 °C.

Thermal management and power characteristics

Open air-over enclosure relies on the driven blower wheel to pull cooling air across the windings during operation. At full load the motor draws 5.8 to 6.8 A from a 208-230 V supply, and the auto-reset thermal protector cycles the winding offline only if temperature limits are reached. No auxiliary cooling or forced-air provision is required beyond the normal blower airflow.
