24 in Bar Clamp for Heavy Duty Work

Practical Limits of the Screw Clamp Interface

The sliding arm mechanism relies on manual torque applied through the steel handle to generate clamping force. Maximum jaw opening is fixed at 24 in so workpieces wider than this cannot be held. Throat depth is 5 1/2 in limiting reach from the bar edge. The 1 5/16 x 2 5/8 in face distributes pressure but cannot conform to highly irregular surfaces without additional padding.

Upgrading from Light Duty Clamps

This clamp replaces light duty spring clamps or small C clamps when greater opening capacity and sustained pressure are required. The jump is worth it for fabrication, welding fixtures and glue ups where a 24 in span and forged steel rigidity prevent flex under load. It is not suited for buyers who need rapid one handed operation or clamping in confined spaces where the bar length and handle swing become obstacles.
