Ultrasonic proximity sensor with discrete output

The Banner T30UXDB is an all-purpose photoelectric sensor designed for industrial detection tasks. It uses an ultrasonic time-of-flight sensing beam to detect objects at distances between 200 mm and 2000 mm. The barrel-style housing is made from PBT and carries an IP6 rating. A 2 m cable provides the connection.

Operating limits defined by 10-30 V dc supply

The sensor requires a 10 to 30 V dc power supply and draws up to 100 mA on its discrete switched output. Output saturation voltage stays below 1.6 V for NPN and below 3 V for PNP at that current. Short-circuit protection is built in. A 500 ms delay occurs at power-up before the output becomes active. Vibration and shock resistance meet MIL-STD-202F Method 201A and IEC 60947-5-2 requirements respectively.

Selectable NPN or PNP output with teach button

The single discrete output is configurable as NPN or PNP and as normally open or normally closed. Adjustment is performed via a teach button on the housing; no PC configuration is needed. Discrete repeatability is 0.1% of distance with a 1.0 mm minimum. Temperature effect is 0.02% of sensing distance per degree Celsius. The four-pin cable has no quick-disconnect option.
