The Banner SLM30B6 is a fixed-distance slot sensor built for industrial detection tasks. Its zinc die-cast housing with nickel plating and IP67 rating suit harsh environments where dust, moisture or vibration are present. The sensor operates on a 10-30 V dc supply and provides both NPN and PNP outputs through a 2 m cable. It is designed for automated equipment that needs reliable presence sensing across a 30 mm slot width.

This unit fits applications such as parts ejection verification, label detection or web-break monitoring where the target passes through the 30 mm aperture. Builders who need a through-beam pair with separate emitter and receiver housings, or who require a sensing distance greater than the fixed 30 mm slot, should look at alternative configurations. The minimum detectable object is 0.4 mm, so very fine features may fall below the resolution threshold.

The sensor delivers a 0.5 ms output response time with 95 µs repeatability, maintaining timing stability during sustained production runs. Its operating range spans -20 °C to 60 °C at up to 95 % relative humidity, and the NEMA 6 rating confirms protection against temporary submersion. A 100 ms power-up delay prevents false triggers during system start-up, while the potentiometer adjustment lets operators set the light/dark operate mode without interrupting the line.
