The Banner Q12AB6FF50Q is a fixed-field proximity sensor designed for industrial automation tasks. It detects objects at a 50 mm cutoff using a visible red LED beam at 640 nm wavelength. The unit operates on a 10-30 V dc supply and provides bipolar outputs with one NPN and one PNP channel. Its rectangular thermoplastic housing carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

Upgrade From Basic Switches

This sensor replaces simple mechanical limit switches or diffuse-mode sensors where background suppression is required. The jump is worth it when the application demands a precise 50 mm cutoff that ignores objects beyond that distance. It offers a fast 0.85 ms ON/OFF response time and 175 µs repeatability for consistent detection. A 120 ms power-up delay ensures stable start-up in controlled sequences.

Capacity And Headroom

The sensor comfortably handles sensing ranges up to 50 mm in environments between -20 °C and 55 °C with up to 95% relative humidity at 50 °C. It runs out when targets exceed the fixed 50 mm cutoff distance or when the application requires adjustable field settings. The M8 Pico quick-disconnect pigtail provides a secure 4-pin connection. Intrinsically safe operation, remote teach, and water detection features are not supported.
