The Autonics PRD12-8DP is a DC three-wire inductive proximity sensor built for 12 to 24 VDC supply rails. It detects ferrous targets at an 8 mm sensing distance using an M12 sensing face. Simple three-wire wiring

Installation follows a standard DC three-wire scheme so electricians can terminate the sensor quickly with basic tools. The non-shielded, non-flush design requires a clear zone around the sensing face; metal brackets or surrounding structure placed too close will cause false triggers. The standard 25×25×1 mm iron target defines the rated distance, so smaller or non-ferrous objects reduce the effective range.

Consistent output during continuous operation

Under sustained load the sensor maintains its rated 8 mm sensing distance without drift as long as the supply stays within the 12 to 24 VDC window. The solid-state output stage avoids mechanical wear, so switching frequency remains stable over long production runs. Heat buildup is minimal in typical indoor industrial ambients, so no derating is needed for continuous duty cycles.
