What this bit does

This 3/16 in. cobalt drill bit is built for rotary or percussion drilling in hardened steel, ceramic tile, marble, concrete, glass, brick, masonry and wood. The flat-bottom parabolic flute removes waste faster while the 118-degree tip angle eliminates walking without a center punch. Chrome vanadium steel shank adds strength and flexibility for general-purpose use.

When the cobalt upgrade pays off

Cobalt and tungsten carbide tip resists heat up to 2000 F and stays sharp longer than standard high-speed steel when drilling abrasive or heat-sensitive materials. The negative back grinding creates a filing action that bores through cast metal, fiberglass and PVC with less pressure. Resharpenable on a silicon carbide wheel so the bit can be restored instead of replaced.

Shank diameter is 3/16 in. so confirm your drill chuck accepts that size. Overall length is 3-1/2 in. with a usable drilling depth of 1-7/8 in.; verify that reaches through your workpiece.
