1U barebone for hybrid NVMe and SATA storage

This 1U rack-mountable barebone system supports a single Intel Xeon Scalable processor in an LGA-3647 socket. It provides twelve DDR4 DIMM slots with a maximum memory capacity of 1.5 TB. The chassis includes two hot-swap 2.5-inch SATA bays and eight NVMe drive bays for high-density storage configurations. Redundant 650 W power supplies rated 80 PLUS Platinum are fitted as standard.

Upgrades from single-socket towers

The jump is worth it when workloads demand more than eight NVMe devices or require hot-swap SATA alongside NVMe in a 1U form factor. Builders moving from platforms capped at 384 GB RDIMM or 768 GB LRDIMM gain headroom up to 1.5 TB using RDIMM 3DS or LRDIMM 3DS modules. The single PCIe Gen3 x8 OCP 2.0 slot adds flexible networking without consuming the x16 slot reserved on the alternative SKU.

Tool-less drive carriers

Install the processor, populate DIMMs in the correct channel order, then slide NVMe and SATA drives into the front hot-swap bays. The redundant power supplies slide in from the rear and lock without cables. Common issues include mismatched DIMM ranks preventing the full 1.5 TB capacity, forgetting to enable the OCP slot in BIOS, and neglecting the BMC firmware update required for IPMI and iKVM stability.
