The kit includes adjustable ducting, gaskets and sealing panels to integrate the enclosure with an existing HVAC return air system. Installation helps direct hot exhaust air away from equipment without recirculation.

HVAC return-air integration limits

The duct connects directly to a facility HVAC return plenum, so its effectiveness depends on the building’s air-handling capacity and duct routing. Enclosures must be positioned beneath a suitable return-air pathway; the adjustable height accommodates 42-48U frame sizes but cannot compensate for undersized HVAC infrastructure. Proper sealing with the supplied gaskets is essential to prevent bypass airflow that would reduce thermal isolation. No active fans or powered components are included in the kit.

Compatibility with 42-48U SmartRack frames

This kit is built exclusively for Tripp Lite SmartRack enclosures in the 42-48U height range. It will not fit racks from other vendors, open-frame racks, or SmartRack models outside the stated U-height window. Buyers with non-standard cabinet depths, third-party enclosures, or wall-mount cabinets must select a different airflow management solution.
