Dual Molex-to-PCIe adapter

This short adapter converts two 4-pin Molex LP4 connectors from an ATX power supply into a single 8-pin PCI Express graphics card power connector. It is intended for builders whose PSU lacks a native 8-pin PEG lead but has spare Molex outputs. The cord measures less than one inch overall.

Plug-and-play with wire-order care

Each Molex plug is male and the PCIe end is male, so the three connectors join directly without tools. The two Molex heads carry different 12 V and ground wire counts; swapping them changes the pin-out on the 8-pin side. Installers should match the labelled 12 V and ground wires to the graphics card specification before powering on.

Check PSU Molex wiring and load

Verify that the power supply Molex rails can deliver the 12 V current the graphics card requires, because the adapter simply passes the existing wires through. The 18 AWG tinned copper conductors are rated for the 12 V DC line, but total draw must stay within the PSU Molex circuit limit. Ensure the card’s 8-pin socket follows the standard PCIe pin-out before connecting.
