Ruth's sister

Ruth's sister QC3.0 USB-A to DC5.5x2.5mm PD Trigger Cable 1.2M

SKU CH-NTS8-NCBWY

Delivers 9V or 12V from a QC3.0 USB-A source to a 5.5×2.5mm DC device using 20AWG copper for up to 5A current

  • QC3.0 trigger delivers 9V or 12V from compatible USB-A power sources
  • 20AWG copper core handles up to 5A with less heat than thinner wire
  • 2 metre length gives flexible placement for routers, monitors or LED strips
  • DC 5.5×2.5 mm plug fits common barrel jacks and works with 5.5×2.1 mm sockets
  • Built-in voltage detection chip negotiates output automatically for safe device powering

Cable purpose and fit

This USB-A to DC 5.5x2.5 mm trigger cable lets a Quick Charge 3.0 power source drive 9 V or 12 V devices such as routers, monitors or LED lights. The 20 AWG copper conductors are rated for up to 5 A, reducing voltage drop compared with thinner 24 AWG alternatives. It is not suited for hardware that requires a different barrel size or a native Power Delivery negotiation.

Sustained-load behaviour

The built-in AD detection chip continuously monitors the negotiated voltage, keeping the output stable at the selected 9 V or 12 V level during extended operation. Thicker 20 AWG wiring limits resistive heating when the load approaches the 5 A ceiling. If the source only supplies standard 5 V USB power, the cable passes 5 V without conversion and cannot raise the voltage.

Interface practical limits

The cable works only with USB-A chargers or power banks that explicitly support Quick Charge 2.0 or 3.0 at 9 V and 12 V; ordinary 5 V ports will not trigger the higher voltages. Barrel compatibility is limited to 5.5 x 2.5 mm (and possibly 5.5 x 2.1 mm) centre-positive plugs, so devices using other coaxial sizes cannot be powered. Length is fixed at 1.2 m (47.24 in), restricting placement flexibility.

Questions about this item

Will the 20AWG copper cable run cool when powering a router all day?

The 20AWG thick copper wire is rated for up to 5A and is thicker than ordinary 24AWG wire, giving high efficiency and low heating during continuous use.

My charger only has a standard USB-A 5V output — can I still use this cable?

With a standard USB 5V input the cable outputs 5V only; to get 9V or 12V you need a USB adapter that supports QC3.0 9V and 12V output.

Will the DC5.5x2.5mm plug fit the 5.5x2.1mm jack on my older monitor?

The connector may also be compatible with 5.5x2.1mm jacks, but fit is not guaranteed for every device.
