I2S Class D amplifier module with 3 W output for Raspberry Pi and ESP32 projects
The Max98357 is a 3W Class D amplifier breakout board that decodes I2S digital audio directly into speaker-level output. It connects to Raspberry Pi or ESP32 projects without an external DAC or filter components. Builders adding sound to embedded designs can solder headers or wires to the compact PCB and drive a small speaker from a single supply.
The module delivers up to 3 watts into a speaker load using a filterless Class D architecture that reduces part count and board space. It accepts standard I2S data streams so no analogue line-level stage is required. Projects needing higher power, multi-channel audio, or analogue input will need a different amplifier solution.
No published specifications for this item yet.
The module delivers up to 3 W into a 4 Ω or 8 Ω load, giving clear room-filling volume for voice prompts, alarms or background music without an external amp.
I²S carries only digital audio streams, so sample rate and bit depth are set by the host controller; the board itself adds no extra protocol overhead.
