The Netgear GS724TPP provides 24 PoE+ ports with a 380 W power budget and two 1 Gb SFP uplinks. It targets small-to-medium organisations that need to power wireless access points, IP cameras or VoIP phones from a single managed switch. The unit can sit on a desktop or be mounted in a standard rack. Optional Insight cloud management adds remote monitoring without an on-premise controller.

Practical limits of PoE+ and SFP uplinks

The 380 W budget is shared across all 24 PoE+ ports, so simultaneous high-draw devices will reduce per-port headroom. Each copper port negotiates up to 1 Gbps; the two SFP slots accept 1 Gb transceivers only, limiting fibre uplink speed to 1 Gbps. Layer 2 management features operate within the Smart Managed Pro feature set, not a full Layer 3 stack.

Installation notes and common issues

Desktop deployment needs only a power cord and network cables; rack mounting uses the included brackets and four screws. Fan speed ramps with temperature and load, so acoustic output rises in warm or fully loaded racks. A frequent oversight is exceeding the 380 W PoE budget when adding devices later — plan the power allocation before cabling. Insight cloud onboarding requires an internet connection and a Netgear account.
