Server BMC adapter

This Innocard PCIe Gen4 gender changer converts a U.3 SFF-8639 drive to a PCI Express 4.0 x4 slot for server BMC management. It integrates a 30 µ SFF-8639 connector and a 100 MHz clock buffer to drive longer trace lengths and cables. The board includes an SMBus switch, an I/O expander for PWRDIS control and PERST# support for out-of-band SSD reset. Built-in voltage-level translators on WAKE# and CLKREQ# extend signal reach over extended runs.

Industrial temperature limits

Rated for industrial-grade temperature ranges, the adapter uses latch-up performance exceeding 100 mA per JESD 78 Class II on its translators. A 12 V hot-plug power circuit with eFuse protection supplies the U.3 NVMe SSD, offering a programmable current limit of 6.5 A and programmable inrush slew rate. Thermal shutdown and fault alert functions protect the drive, while back-to-back FET operation manages power sequencing. A 400 W TVS device guards the 12 V input against transients.

U.3 to PCIe 4.0 x4 conversion

The single specification that decides fit is the U.3 SFF-8639 to PCI Express 4.0 x4 conversion with integrated clock buffer and SMBus infrastructure. Buyers needing a direct M.2 or U.2 connection without the SFF-8639 interface cannot use this card. Systems lacking a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot or the required SMBus addresses (0x6C, 0x71, 0x41) will not support the management features.
