The HPE DL380 Gen10+ is a 2U rack-mount server barebone supplied in a configure-to-order configuration. It provides eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays for flexible storage layouts. An integrated P408i-a RAID controller handles array management directly on the system board. The unit also includes an I350-T4 OCP3 network adapter for four-port Gigabit connectivity.

Upgrade from fixed-config 1U systems

This chassis replaces 1U servers that limit internal drive count to four bays or lack a dedicated hardware RAID engine. The additional height accommodates twice the SFF bays and the P408i-a controller without consuming a PCIe slot. The jump is worthwhile when workloads demand more local disks or battery-backed write cache than a 1U fixed SKU can provide.

Sustained load with hardware RAID && OCP3 networking

Under continuous I/O the P408i-a offloads parity calculations from the Xeon CPUs, keeping processor cycles free for applications. The controller cache retains write performance during extended bursts. The I350-T4 adapter maintains four independent 1 GbE links without saturating the system bus, so network throughput scales with disk throughput over long runs.
