At 3 mm diameter it is 60 % thinner than standard 24 AWG Cat6, giving a 48 % reduction in diameter and 73 % less space used. The slim profile improves airflow and makes high-density patching practical. Snagless translucent boots protect the locking tabs during frequent moves.

Practical Limits of Cat6 UTP

The cable carries Gigabit Ethernet up to 100 m per TIA/EIA standards, but the 28 AWG gauge increases insertion loss so the maximum reliable channel length is shorter than with 24 AWG. Shielding is not present, so the cable is unsuited for environments with strong electromagnetic interference. Gold-plated contacts rated at 50 micron resist corrosion, yet the UTP construction offers no alien-crosstalk protection. Installers should verify total link budget before deploying long runs.

Capacity and Headroom

The four-pair bare copper design supports 1 Gbps throughput with headroom for typical patch-panel cross-connects up to the rated channel limit. In dense 1U or 2U patch panels the reduced bulk leaves room for additional cables and better cooling. Beyond the standard distance or in noisy industrial settings the thinner conductors run out of margin and error rates rise. For longer links or noisy areas a standard 24 AWG shielded cable is the appropriate choice.
