SATA 3.0 ceiling at 6 Gbps

The interface tops out at 6 Gbps, so any attached drive or controller cannot exceed that throughput regardless of its own rating. Backward compatibility with 3 Gbps and 1.5 Gbps devices is built in, but the cable itself adds no extra bandwidth. Length is fixed at one metre, limiting placement to relatively close device pairs.

Eight cables handle eight drives, which suits typical eight-bay enclosures or dual four-port RAID cards.
