Installing it and common pitfalls

The cable ends in standard RJ45 connectors with gold-plated contacts, so it plugs straight into any RJ45 port on routers, switches, laptops, PS4, PS5, Xbox or Nintendo Switch. Because the jacket is thick PVC rated for direct burial and outdoor exposure, routing through walls or conduit needs a little more force than thinner patch cords. The only frequent issue is forgetting that the 80 ft length may exceed the 100 m channel limit once patch cords and panel wiring are added.

Check your setup before ordering

Verify that the run from your switch or router to the device will not push the total channel past 100 m when this 80 ft cable is combined with any existing patch leads. Ensure both ends have standard RJ45 ports — no proprietary locking tabs or non-standard pinouts. The cable is backward compatible with Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat7 equipment, so existing gear will work, but the link will negotiate to the lowest common speed.
