Practical limits of the NVME interface on these

The host laptop only exposes a PCIe 2.0 x2 or x4 link, so any NVME drive will run at half or quarter of its rated sequential speed. AHCI protocol drives are also supported but operate over the same limited lane count. Booting from the new drive requires a firmware version that recognises NVME devices; earlier EFI revisions will not see the SSD. No power delivery or thermal management is added by the adapter, so sustained writes may throttle on high-performance drives.
