M.2 B-Key SATA and mSATA adapter

This adapter converts M.2 B-Key SATA SSDs or mSATA drives into a standard 2.5-inch SATA form factor. It accepts M.2 modules sized 22x30, 22x42 and 22x60 as well as mSATA cards measuring 26.8x30 or 50.95x30. The board connects through a 52-pin mini PCIe interface. It is built for users adding solid-state storage to laptops or desktops with 2.5-inch drive bays.

Upgrade from native mSATA or M.2 slots

The device replaces a direct motherboard M.2 or mSATA socket when the host lacks the required connector or when a 2.5-inch bay is the only available mounting point. It supports SATA revision 2.6 and M.2 specification revision 0.9, so the jump is worthwhile when moving a compatible SATA SSD to a system that only offers 2.5-inch drive support. Note that an installed M.2 drive takes priority; a simultaneously connected mSATA device will not function.

Sustained operation with SATA SSDs

Under continuous workloads the adapter passes through the native SATA signal without protocol translation, so performance matches the drive's own sustained ratings. Thermal behaviour depends on the host chassis airflow around the 2.5-inch bracket. No active cooling is included, so sustained writes rely on the drive's internal throttling and the case ventilation. The ATA/ATAPI-7 compliance ensures stable command handling during long transfers.
