Dual M.2 B-key and mSATA to SATA adapter

This adapter converts an M.2 NGFF B-key SSD or an mSATA SSD to a standard SATA 3.0 interface. It allows either drive type to connect to a desktop motherboard or laptop SATA port without an additional enclosure. The card supports one drive at a time in either slot.

SATA 3.0 throughput ceiling

The SATA 3.0 link caps sequential transfer at 6 Gbps, so any SSD installed will be limited to that bandwidth regardless of its own rated speed. The adapter adds no controller or cache, so latency and random performance match the native SATA device directly. It cannot accelerate a slower drive or bypass the interface limit.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the B-key M.2 slot or the mSATA slot on this adapter for my SSD?

Use the B-key M.2 slot for M.2 SATA SSDs and the mSATA slot for mSATA SSDs; only one can be installed at a time.

What does the SATA 3.0 label mean for actual transfer speed in my laptop?

The adapter passes the SATA 3.0 interface through, so your SSD runs at up to 6 Gbit/s, limited by the drive and host controller.
