Sony TRV75E capture cable
This 1.5 metre cable connects the 4-pin FireWire port on a Sony DCR-TRV75E Mini DV camcorder to a USB 2.0 port on a computer. It is built specifically for that model and will not work with other camcorders or generic IEEE 1394 devices. The moulded strain relief protects the connectors during repeated plugging and unplugging.
IEEE 1394 transfer headroom
The link supports 100, 200 and 400 Mbit/s IEEE 1394 signalling rates, matching the camcorder’s native DV stream. Bandwidth is sufficient for real-time capture of standard-definition footage without dropped frames. It cannot accelerate transfers beyond the camcorder’s own 400 Mbit/s ceiling.
USB 2.0 host limitation
The USB 2.0 male plug carries the FireWire signalling through an internal bridge, so the host only sees a USB 2.0 device. Two-way transfer of images, sound and data is preserved, but the connection offers no FireWire port for daisy-chaining additional 1394 equipment.

Questions about this item
Will the 4-pin 1394 connector on this 1.5m cable fit the DV port on my older Sony DCR-TRV75E camcorder?
Yes, the 4-pin male 1394 plug matches the i.LINK/DV socket on the DCR-TRV75E, so the cable connects directly without an adapter.
How can I confirm the cable is transferring video at the correct 100, 200 or 400 Mbit/s rate after I plug it in?
Open your capture software and check the reported link speed; it should show one of the supported 100, 200 or 400 Mbit/s IEEE 1394 rates when the camcorder is playing.
Does the package include a 6-pin Firewire adapter or a separate power supply for the USB 2.0 end?
The box contains only the 1.5m 4-pin 1394 to USB 2.0 male cable; no 6-pin adapter or external power supply is included.
