Sustained throughput on a 1 m Cat 6 link

Over this short distance the cable maintains 10 GbE and 2.5 GbE line rates without the signal degradation seen on longer or lower-category runs. Etherlighting LEDs remain active during continuous traffic, giving immediate visual confirmation that the link has not dropped to a lower speed. Because the run is only 1 m, attenuation and crosstalk stay well within Cat 6 limits even under constant load. Installations that require PoE power delivery over greater distances will need a different cable.

Practical limits of the Cat 6 interface here

The 1 m length keeps insertion loss minimal, so the 10 GbE and 2.5 GbE capabilities are fully usable at the connector. Unshielded construction means the cable is more susceptible to external EMI than shielded alternatives in electrically noisy cabinets. Etherlighting function depends on UniFi hardware that implements the feature; non-UniFi ports will pass data but not drive the indicators. Users needing HDMI or USB-C video transport cannot use this RJ-45 patch cable.
