7000 BTU Rack Cooling Unit

The SRCOOL7KRM is a self-contained air conditioning unit that mounts in 8U of rack space to deliver 7000 BTU/h (2.0 kW) of close-coupled cooling. It targets server rooms, network closets and data centres where floor space is limited and heat-sensitive equipment needs dedicated temperature control. The unit plugs into a standard 120 V 60 Hz NEMA 5-15R outlet via a 7 ft cord and uses R410A refrigerant.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Because the evaporator coils vent through the enclosure's rear perforated doors, the unit continuously removes heat from inside the rack rather than cycling on brief spikes. Automatic restart after power failures and a built-in timer for unattended shutdown keep cooling active during extended operation without manual intervention. Efficiency comes from cooling only the rack contents, not the surrounding room.

Installation Notes

The magnetic air dam attaches to the front door to force equipment intake through the cold aisle, but this only works with perforated doors — solid, plexiglass or glass doors block airflow and make the unit unsuitable. An optional SRCOOL7KDUCT accessory can route exhaust where rear venting is impractical, and the optional SRCOOLNET2 module adds remote management. No floor drain or water tank is required because the built-in evaporator eliminates condensation.
