The Tripp Lite B110-SP-DP sits between a DisplayPort source and display to absorb power surges and electrostatic discharge. It protects connected equipment in trade shows, convention halls, home theatres and digital signage installations. The unit uses solid-state silicon-avalanche diode technology with a clamping response under one nanosecond. Low TDMS loss preserves a clean 4K 60 Hz signal without interference.

Upgrades from unprotected cabling

Adding this protector is worth it whenever long cable runs or shared power circuits expose DisplayPort gear to voltage spikes. It replaces a direct cable link with a shielded link that meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD ratings of 15 kV air and 8 kV contact, plus IEC 61000-4-4 EFT at 2 kV. Buyers who need HDMI or DVI protection cannot use this model. Builders requiring rack-mount surge strips should look elsewhere.

DisplayPort interface limits

The protector passes DisplayPort video up to 4K at 60 Hz with HDCP compliance and supports cable lengths up to 15 feet (4.6 metres). It handles a single DisplayPort connection only, so multi-stream or daisy-chain topologies are not supported. Signal integrity depends on staying within the specified cable length and resolution ceiling. No power adapter is required, as the device draws negligible current from the line.
