USB 3.0 to SATA adapter for 2.5" drives

This adapter connects a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD to a USB 3.0 port using a combined 7+15-pin connector and integrated power. The 42 cm cable supports Mass Storage Class drives for straightforward external access. It works with Windows 7, Vista, XP, Server 2003 and Server 2008 (32- and 64-bit) with current service packs. The unit weighs 45 g and ships as a single cable.

Replaces bare drive docks

When you need temporary access to a bare 2.5" drive without installing it inside a chassis, this adapter eliminates the dock or enclosure. The jump is worth it for data recovery, cloning or occasional backups where a permanent bay is unnecessary. Hot-swapping and plug-and-play let you change drives without rebooting. It is not suited for 3.5-inch drives or drives that require external power beyond the USB port.

Sustained transfers at USB 3.0 speeds

Under continuous read or write loads the link runs at up to 5 Gb/s SuperSpeed, falling back to USB 2.0, 1.1 or 1.0 and SATA 1.5 Gb/s on older ports. Shielded construction helps maintain signal integrity during long copy sessions. Performance scales with the attached drive and host controller rather than the adapter itself. The short 42 cm length keeps voltage drop minimal for 2.5" units.
