Indoor branch-circuit wire

This 14 AWG NM-B copper cable comes in a 100 ft coil for residential branch circuits that feed switches and outlets. The patented SIMpull jacket reduces friction so the cable pulls, strips and installs with less effort. It is rated for 600 volts and intended for dry, above-ground locations only. Builders and electricians running new circuits in houses will find it suited to standard indoor wiring tasks.

Thermal and power behaviour

The cable carries current for lighting and receptacle circuits without active cooling, so it produces no fan noise and draws no power of its own. Heat rise depends on the load placed on the circuit and the ambient temperature of the wall cavity. In normal residential use the conductor temperature stays within the limits defined for NM-B insulation. No external power supply or thermal management is required.

Sustained-load characteristics

Under continuous load the copper conductors warm steadily until they reach a stable temperature determined by the circuit current and the surrounding insulation. The SIMpull jacket does not degrade when the cable operates at its rated 600 volts in dry conditions. Voltage drop along the 100 ft length follows standard resistance tables for 14 AWG copper. The cable remains suitable for branch circuits that run for hours at a time in dry, above-ground installations.
