Compact Surge Protection

The SURGEX SA-82 is a two-outlet surge suppressor from the FlatPak series. It uses Series Mode technology to provide non-sacrificial protection against transients, spikes and electrical noise. A magnetic-shielding steel enclosure houses the circuitry, and a separate three-foot grounded line cord connects to the mains. The unit carries ETL and cETL certifications to UL 1449 and CSA C22.2 No.8 standards.

Installers Needing Tight-Space Filtering

This suppressor suits AV installers mounting projectors, flat panels or digital displays where space is at a premium. The slim profile hides behind or beside equipment and integrates with wall or ceiling mounting systems. It is not for users who need more than two receptacles, builders requiring a higher joule rating, or anyone needing a longer attached power cord than the supplied three-foot lead.

Series Mode Circuitry in a Steel Chassis

The SA-82 requires a standard grounded AC supply and provides two grounded receptacles for connected gear. Auto-resetting overvoltage shutdown and a thermal circuit breaker handle overload events without user intervention. EMI and RFI filtering attenuates normal-mode noise by 40 dB at 100 kHz and up to 50 dB at higher frequencies, while common-mode filtering reaches 50 dB at 5 MHz and 20 MHz. The steel enclosure and Series Mode design prevent ground contamination that can cause audio hiss or video pixilation.
