This Supermicro SNK-P0047PS is a 1U passive CPU heat sink built for Supermicro X9 and X10 generation servers. It supports Intel Xeon E5-2600 and E5-4600 series processors installed in a Socket R LGA-2011 Narrow ILM socket. The unit uses a copper and aluminum base with aluminum fins and heat pipes to dissipate heat without a fan. It is designed for UP, DP and MP server configurations where 1U height is required.

Sustained Thermal Performance in 1U Enclosures

Under continuous load the passive design relies on chassis airflow moving across the aluminum fin stack and heat pipes. The copper and aluminum base draws heat from the processor and spreads it through the fin array for dissipation. Because no fan is integrated thermal capacity depends entirely on the server's internal air velocity and ambient temperature. The heat sink has been fully tested and validated by Supermicro for these specific 1U UP, DP and MP platforms.

Installation Notes for Narrow ILM Brackets

Mounting uses the Narrow ILM retention mechanism common to the supported Supermicro motherboards. The heat sink sits directly on the processor with thermal interface material applied between the base and the integrated heat spreader. Installers must verify the motherboard is an X9 or X10 generation board with the Narrow ILM bracket; Square ILM or other socket variants will not align. No active fan header or power connection is required for this passive unit.
