The Sonnet Echo II DV T5 is a 2-slot Thunderbolt 5 to PCIe 4.0 expansion module that connects two single-width, non-GPU cards to a computer over Thunderbolt. Each slot receives a dedicated Thunderbolt 5 link, so both cards can run at full 6000 MB/s bandwidth simultaneously. It is built for creative professionals who need high-bandwidth I/O, transcode or networking cards but work on laptops or mini desktops lacking internal PCIe slots.

Thermals, noise and power draw

The unit is a rackmount enclosure designed to cool two full-length PCIe cards in a 2U space. Active internal airflow manages heat from both slots during sustained workloads. Power for the installed cards is supplied by the enclosure itself, so the host computer only delivers data over the Thunderbolt cables. No figures for acoustic output or total system draw are provided by the supplier.

Build integration

Four Thunderbolt 5 ports are fitted: two connect upstream to the host for maximum performance, while the secondary ports allow daisy-chaining of additional Thunderbolt devices on a single cable. Each PCIe 4.0 slot operates independently, so the two cards can be linked to separate computers if required. The module accepts any Thunderbolt-compatible, single-width card regardless of length or height, freeing the host from needing its own expansion slots.
