RUCKUS WIRELESS
Exhaust fan directs front-to-back airflow through compatible ICX 7650 switches
The RUCKUS WIRELESS ICXFAN12E is a replacement exhaust fan designed exclusively for the ICX 7650 enterprise-class stackable access and aggregation switch. It provides front-to-back airflow that matches the chassis thermal design. Network engineers maintaining dense wiring closets or data-centre racks use this module to restore factory-specified cooling performance.
The fan slides into the dedicated slot on the ICX 7650 and connects to the internal power and monitoring header without tools. Its front-to-back orientation pulls cool air from the cold aisle and expels heated air toward the hot aisle, preserving the intended airflow pattern across ASICs and power supplies. A failed or missing unit disrupts that pattern and can trigger thermal throttling or automatic shutdown.
Installing a genuine ICXFAN12E re-enables the switch’s built-in fan-speed telemetry and fault-alerting functions, so management software can verify rotation speed and raise alarms before temperatures exceed safe limits. Without a recognised module the monitoring subsystem reports a hardware fault, leaving administrators blind to developing thermal issues.
