350 MHz Cat5e bulk cable

Black Box EYN852A-PB-1000 is an unshielded, plenum-rated Cat5e bulk cable supplied in a 1000 ft pull box. It is sweep tested to 350 MHz and carries ETL verification as part of the GigaBase channel solution. The white jacket includes a longitudinal rip cord and descending foot markings for easy measurement. Designed for installers running horizontal runs in commercial ceilings and air-handling spaces.

Upgrade from older Category 5

This cable replaces legacy Category 5 links that cannot support Gigabit Ethernet or extended frequency testing. The 350 MHz characterization provides headroom above the standard 100 MHz requirement, reducing risk on longer or denser bundles. The jump is worth it when new drops must carry 1000BASE-T or future higher-speed standards without re-pulling. Existing Category 5e installations already meeting 350 MHz specs gain no extra margin from this cable.

Capacity for Gigabit and legacy LANs

The cable comfortably handles 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 155 Mbps ATM, 622 Mbps ATM and Gigabit Ethernet across its 1000 ft length. It also supports voice, Token Ring at 4 and 16 Mbps, T1 and 100 Mbps TP-PMD. Low attenuation and power-sum crosstalk performance extends usable headroom on these protocols. Runs requiring 10 Gbps or shielded protection against heavy EMI fall outside its design envelope.
