Philips Advance Mark 7 Rapid Start Ballast

The Philips Advance IZT-2S28-D is an electronic fluorescent dimming ballast built for commercial and institutional lighting systems. It operates two T5 lamps using rapid start ignition and accepts a universal input voltage range of 120 to 277V AC. This kit suits facility managers and electricians who need reliable, flicker-free control over linear fluorescent fixtures in offices, schools or retail spaces. It is not intended for LED retrofits, high-intensity discharge lamps or residential screw-in fixtures.

0-10V Dimming Range and Control Limits

The ballast provides full continuous dimming via a standard 0-10V control signal, covering a range from 100 percent down to 3 percent light output. This analogue interface requires compatible dimming controls and low-voltage wiring separate from the mains supply. It does not support digital protocols such as DALI or DMX, nor does it function with leading-edge or trailing-edge phase-cut dimmers designed for incandescent loads. The minimum starting temperature is rated at 50 degrees F.

Dual 28W T5 Capacity and Thermal Headroom

Each unit drives two T5 lamps at a maximum of 28 watts per bulb, delivering stable operation across the stated voltage window. The rapid start method reduces electrode wear during frequent switching cycles, extending lamp life in occupancy-sensor applications. Headroom diminishes if ambient temperatures fall below the 50-degree threshold or if lamp wattage exceeds the 28W limit. It cannot drive higher-wattage T5HO lamps, compact fluorescent bulbs or more than two lamps per ballast.
