The LUOM OZV8 extracts audio from an HDMI source and sends it to separate optical SPDIF and 3.5 mm analogue outputs while passing 4K 60 Hz video to a display. It is built for streamers, gamers and installers who need to feed a soundbar, amplifier or headphones without routing audio through the TV. The unit supports 5.1-channel pass-through and ARC for compatible sources. Power comes from the included 5 V adapter.

Installing the LUOM OZV8 HDMI Audio Extractor

Connect the source to the HDMI input, the display to the HDMI output, and the audio device to either the optical or 3.5 mm jack; then plug in the supplied 5 V power supply. A three-position EDID switch selects Pass, 2-channel or 5.1-channel audio modes to match the downstream equipment. The extractor does not work with Bluetooth headsets and must not be used with a Yamaha receiver as the input source. HDCP handshake issues can occur if the source and display do not both support 4K at 60 Hz.

The LUOM OZV8 provides 18 Gbps bandwidth, enabling 4K at 60 Hz with 24, 30 or 36-bit deep colour when both the source and display support that rate. Lower resolutions such as 1080p, 720p, 576p and 480p are also supported. If either the input or output device is limited to a lower HDMI version, the extractor will negotiate the highest common resolution automatically.
