Transparent NVMe Enclosure
The LUOM M.2 NVMe PCIe to USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C enclosure connects PCIe-based NVMe M-Key SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors up to 2 TB. A tool-free design lets you install a drive in under three minutes. The transparent crystal PC shell shows the drive inside, while an aluminium alloy plate and thermal pads draw heat away. It works with Windows, Linux and macOS and includes both USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C cables.
JMS583 Controller Performance
The JMS583 master controller supports UASP and TRIM over a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C link rated at 10 Gbps. Compatible NVMe SSDs can reach sequential read and write speeds above 950 MB/s under sustained load. The aluminium plate and copper-bar thermal design helps maintain these speeds during extended transfers. Note that the enclosure does not support SATA-based M.2 drives, M.2 PCIe AHCI SSDs or mSATA modules.
Pre-Purchase Checklist
Verify your M.2 SSD uses the NVMe protocol with an M-Key notch; B-Key or M+B-Key SATA drives will not function. Confirm your host device provides a USB-C or USB-A port capable of USB 3.1 Gen 1 or Gen 2 bandwidth for best performance. Ensure the drive length matches one of the supported sizes: 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280. The enclosure is limited to a maximum capacity of 2 TB.

Questions about this item
Does the JMS583 controller and USB 3.1 Gen 2 connection generate noticeable heat during continuous all-day transfers?
The aluminium alloy plate and thermal pads on the PCBA board are designed to dissipate heat from the JMS583 controller during sustained use.
What host port and cable must I already have to reach the 10 Gbps link speed?
A USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port on the host and the included Type-C to Type-C cable are required for 10 Gbps operation.
Will a legacy SATA-based M.2 drive (B-Key) work in this NVMe-only enclosure?
No — the enclosure supports only NVMe PCIe M-Key drives in sizes 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 up to 2 TB.
