HDMI Audio Extraction

The LUOM HDMI Audio Extractor separates the digital audio embedded in an HDMI source and routes it to optical TOSLINK SPDIF and analog RCA L/R stereo outputs while passing the original video and audio through the HDMI output. It is intended for users who need to send sound from a Blu-ray player, game console or streaming device to an amplifier, soundbar or AV receiver that lacks HDMI inputs. The converter does not support ARC, so it cannot return audio from a TV back to the source device.

Build Integration

The unit accepts a standard HDMI input up to 49ft with AWG26 cable and provides a single HDMI output for a TV, monitor or projector alongside the two audio outputs. It requires an external 5 V power supply and offers three selectable audio modes — PASS, 2CH and 5.1CH — to match the connected sound system. RCA L/R delivers 2CH PCM stereo while the optical port handles 5.1CH Dolby Digital and DTS; Dolby Digital Plus is not supported. No additional adapters or software are needed for basic operation.

Sustained Operation

The converter handles video resolutions up to 3840x2160 at 30Hz and 4096x2160 at 30Hz with 24‑bit, 30‑bit and 36‑bit deep colour support, maintaining signal integrity over the full cable distance. LED indicators show power status and a successful HDMI handshake with the display. Audio formats including DTS‑HD, Dolby TrueHD, LPCM 7.1, DTS, Dolby AC3 and DSD are passed through without degradation during extended playback sessions.
